If you know the artisits on this CD then you most likely like them. If that's the case then this 24 track CD is a must. If you don't know a particular artist and would like to find out if you do like their material or not, then buy the CD - you can't go wrong - with 8 different artists all taking part you're bound to find at least one that you like - besides Mike that is. How can one go wrong - with this many great selections all on one CD - and all for only $20 (Canadian money!)

Here's what's on the CD:
Matt Johnston does three of his originals - "Spirit of the West", "Old Flat Top Guitar", and "We are the Sons and the Daughters". Kraig Jodrey does three songs that he wrote, "Carry on the Tradition", "Cowboyin' Ain't No Holiday" and "One More Rodeo" - the last one with the help of Aimee Pettersen! Aimee also teams up with Budd Webb in a song called "Good Together" and sings back-up on a few other tracks as well. Bud also sang "Good To Go", "Becca Fly" and "Rock'n Roll Cowboy" that he co-wrote with Mike Puhallo! Mike shares seven other poems that are scattered throughout the CD and Bodie Domingues sings "Fifty's Just a Number" that he and Mike co-wrote. The Engineer of the whole project, Ray Goguen, also shares a song with us called "Old Jack" that he co-wrote. There are also three songs that are both written and sung by Tammy Gislason - "Prairie Moon", "Senorita's Song", and "In the Wind".

The Will Rogers Medallion Award!
This book was published in the summer of 2001. Mike and Cowboy Cartoonist Wendy Liddle released it as their 5th book of Cowboy Poetry and Cartoons. Piled Higher and Deeper on the Cariboo Trail, is probably the best yet! It is a collection 45 poems by Mike Puhallo that range from silly to serious. Poems that reach back in time to tell stories of the earliest cowboys and horsemen or explore the perils of the cyber age. The West as it was, and is, through the eyes of a cowboy. Every poem is illustrated with the wit and humor that has made Wendy Liddle one of the world's most popular Cowboy Cartoonists.

The Medallion Award winners!
Mike's latest book Piled Higher and Deeper on the Cariboo Trail just (April 2002) received the "Will Rogers Medallion Award" from the Academy of Western Artists.

This is Mike's first book and it was put together with a combination of his own poems, poems from Brian Brannon, and the great cartoons of Wendy Liddle! Rhymes on the Range will take you into the life of genuine no-bullshit cowboys. These are actual stories, about actual happenings in the life of Canada's working cowboys. You will smell the stench of burning hair at the branding fire and the welcome fragrance of coffee on a campfire during roundup. You'll hear the music of spurs jingling in stirrups as a cowboy rides by and the call of a coyote as you drift off to sleep in your bedroll. You will enjoy it!
